#265 Opera
Directed by Dario Argento
Year 1987
Opera is the last Great Dario Argento film. A typical Italian slasher where the identity of the mysterious killer isn’t as important as the stylish setpieces. It’s a summation of Argento’s best giallo moments with a few new tricks worked into the style. Two things viewers remember best about the film is the use of crows and a weapon of small pins attached to tape and placed directly below a person’s eyes. Having helped to usher in the 80s slasher craze, Argento comes out of it with one of his least serious entries. Aside from the knockout style of Suspiria, this may be his most entertaining film.
