The great achievement of Mike Flanagan’s career so far are the four Miniseries he made for Netflix. We’ve already covered The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass. The more divisive Haunting of Bly Manor is also in the Top 1000, and now we come to his final project, running over 8-hours and incorporating many of Edgar Allen’s Poe’s most famous stories into one fable of the family of a Pharmaceutical empire being destroyed by a mysterious woman with perhaps supernatural assistance. The tone is a bit more soap opera, even with many Flanagan regulars in the cast, but the script is really well-structured with a number of standout sequences.
