Classic alien invasion movie that defies easy genre slotting. Takes the wonderment of 1950s science fiction so popular with young boys and gives it a grown-up treatment. There are intense moments and shocking moments, but it’s largely a morality play and a drama about the need for cooperation. As a movie, it’s classy and really well-made, but there’s some debate with They Shoot Zombies over whether it even counts as a Horror film or a Thriller. It appears on a number of lists, but it really depends on how you choose to widen your genre boarders.
