If you’re a fan of ‘90s Horror/Thrillers, you’re familiar with the big titles that dominated the era. 1999 gave us The 6th Sense, The Blair Witch Project, Sleepy Hollow and Audition. Stir of Echos got lost on the video shelves, but it grew to become a hidden gem. It plays like the B-side to 6th Sense’s ghost story, but it’s gritty and intense, centering on an excellent performance by Kevin Bacon. Bacon plays a man haunted by ghosts and disturbing visions. To make them go away, he must solve a mystery. To his friends, he becomes an obsessive, but if he doesn’t solve the puzzle it could drive him mad. There’s a lot of Haunted House material here and it’s all tied to the story instead of just being an excuse for scares and surprises.
