David Lynch has never made a Horror film, in the sense of things that define that genre. It’s a vision of hell on earth where the basic creature comforts of love, work, home, family and food are unsettling. There’s no audible peace from the constant hum of machinery, and a newborn baby is the most messed-up and inescapable thing that comes into your life.
