#113 From Dusk Till Dawn

Directed by Robert Rodriguez

Year 1996

In the mid-90s, you couldn’t get better publicity than “Written by Quentin Tarantino. Directed by Robert Rodriguez.” This film’s success and lasting appeal comes from a number of cool collaborators. It made George Clooney a star and raised the profile of Salma Hayek, Danny Trejo, John Hawkes and Tom Savini. The effects team – KNB – went onto a long career with “The Walking Dead”, and it’s a rare case where the film looked as much fun to make as it is to watch. It’s a B-movie idea, but done with a bunch of A-listers bringing their ‘A’ game. Of course, if you find someone who knows nothing about the film, they’re in for the biggest surprise about halfway into this crime story.
