The Horror genre is in a really good place right now. More than ever before, it’s leading the cinema industry in combining respectability, artistic credibility and financial success on fairly reasonable budgets. The path to a Horror film becoming a genre classic has never been easier, but that’s because for decades they were the outcasts. It’s incredibly difficult to get a film made, let alone a Great one, and the Top Horror/Thrillers all have backstories of controversy, creative differences and a general lack of trust in the filmmaker. Some were instant sensations, some were immediately rejected and some had to deal with both.
We recently received updated data that brough changes to our unbiased list of The Top 100 Horror/Thrillers. Yet, the Top 20 remain unchanged. 20 titles that must be considered if you’re deciding what to watch this upcoming Halloween. If you haven’t seen any, these are the Must. If you have seen them, you might object to a couple, but you’d also have to agree with their placement. (I like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I wouldn’t hesitate to remove it for Se7en or Aliens.)
