There are two kinds of people: those who know Juggernaut to be one of the finest suspense thrillers ever made and those – unfortunately the majority – who have not yet seen it. The film is about a terrorist who has planted several bombs on a British luxury liner. The bombs contain a mousetrap puzzle that if mishandled will immediately explode. This film could keep you entertained just on the premise of watching bomb experts try to figure out the various traps, but this is also one of those movies where you can’t believe the cast the assembled. Richard Harris and David Hemmings are the bomb disposal team. Omar Sharif plays the Captain of the ship. Anthony Hopkins is a company man. There’s also Shirley Knight and Ian Holm. Director Richard Lester is known for leaning heavy into the humor, and there’s more here than you might expect, but it never takes away from the constant suspense.
