#413 The Masque of the Red Death

Directed by Roger Corman

Year 1964

One of the most famous adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe by Roger Corman and starring Vincent Price. A spectacular looking pageant of doom with Price playing host to the rich and powerful being guarded by his estate from a devastating plague outside. The beginning sets expectations high with an incredible mood and it does deliver at the finale, but I find the middle to fiddle about. It’s fun watching Price so unleashed, I just wish there was more story than scenery for him to chew.
