We’re three years removed from the release of Oppenheimer, a good time for reflection now that the hype has died down, and there are a lot of discussions to have. Christopher Nolan’s modest (by his standards) biopic won 7 Oscars and was a box office giant even though it’s largely a downer of a movie full of scientists speaking complex jargon, drags out almost an hour past its climax, and opens with abstract images of nuclear reactions and quantum processes running through J. Robert Oppenheimer’s mind. The film’s success comes from the commitment of Nolan and his team both behind and in front of the camera. His finest ensemble of performances in the hands of a skilled crew working at the highest level of craft.
