Thor: Ragnarok

Directed by Taika Waititi

Year 2017

Few filmmakers have had such an accelerated run through Hollywood filmmaking as Taika Waititi. After a decade of independent films, he entered big budget Hollywood filmmaking right at the moment when the MCU was looking for fresh voices, especially when it came to the creaky lore of Thor. Waititi turned it around by mixing his own style with the humor Chris Hemsworth often displayed off set, and additions like Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster. Watch any Behind the Scenes and you see the joy of a kid getting to play with the whole toy store. Waititi turned that success into making “one for him” with Jojo Rabbit and then burned his likability to the ground with an obnoxious appearance in Free Guy and an annoying follow-up to the film that got him his key to the Executive Washroom, all in the span of Five Years!
