Taxi Driver

Directed by Martin Scorsese

Year 1976

Perfect example of this project. Taxi Driver was shot on a tight schedule during the hot NYC summer of 1974 during an actual garbage strike. Very few changes were made by screenwriter Paul Schrader from the First Draft to the Final Shooting Script. However, there was a tremendous amount of improvisation. It’s a film that contains a dozen or so classic scenes, from the classic quote “You talkin’ to me?” to Scorsese’s most memorable bit of acting.

A person interested in filmmaking could learn more being part of this Crew than probably any other set. How to direct actors, how to break down technical bits of action, how to visualize a script and put your own personal stamp on it. A disturbing character study with an on-location atmosphere thick with despair, paranoia, hatred and insanity.
