#370 Twins of Evil
Directed by John Hough
Year 1971
Hammer Horror is known for its color, lush and gothic period detail, classy performances by a British cast, and exposed cleavage. The classy presentation of blood and sexuality made them famous, but sometimes you’d get a bloody and sexual presentation of a classy story and that’s the case with Twins of Evil. Instead of the usual battle of good over evil, this film focuses on the appeal of evil, especially when up against a corrupt adversary. He is played by Peter Cushing, who for once doesn’t seem in control. The main villain is the vampire Count Karnstein, who appears in a trilogy of Hammer films and who unfortunately here looks too much like Jimmy Fallon.
